New game screen layout

As you can see in the screen-shots posted earlier, our game display is created by overlaying the Flash game content directly onto the video player. It appears, however, that covering any portion of the video playback is against YouTube’s Terms of Service. As a result, we’ve reworked the display. The challenge was to keep the game content large enough that it was playable without squinting while at the same time showing the video in a prominent location to retain the immersive nature of the game. We considered several options before settling on the layout below.

We’ve also added a new feature. If you choose a song that has been played before then you can follow your current score relative to everyone else as you play. The rank meter is shown in the upper right of the screen-shot below. It updates in real-time as you play: those with a higher score at each point in the song are shown in green above you while those with a lower score are shown in red below you. You can even chase an earlier personal best score. Beat that and you can assume your rank will go up.
