Play a game, sponsor a band

We’ve just updated the site with the Monday release which includes a lot of little fixes and a couple new features. One addition we’re pretty excited about is the new Sponsored Artist option in the Studio page. To select your own artist, simply click “change”, type the first few letters of the artist you want to sponsor, then select an artist from the list. My Studio page looks like this:

What does it mean to sponsor an artist? The help text explains further:

“iRok2 donates a substantial portion of revenue to music artists. Half of this donation is given to the bands whose videos are played the most. The other half is given to the bands chosen specifically by players like you. Enter the band that you want to support every time you make a purchase at iRok2.”

iRok2 is committed to creating new sources of revenue for music artists and this option in your Studio page is another way for you to get involved. By specifying a particular artist you are designating them as direct recipients of a percentage of every purchase you make at iRok2. Why would you do this? To show your support to a band that you care about. It doesn’t even have to be a group that you play regularly on iRok2. It’s simply an artist that you would feel good about rewarding as you play iRok2. Who do you rok to? Sponsor an artist and make it known!
